Gillian, previously received widespread critical acclaim for her portrayal as British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Crown.
Now she stars in the new production for the streaming giant, which is based off producer Sam McAlister‘s hit memoir, ‘Scoops’.
The film tells the behind the scenes story of how the corporation secured the scoop of the century.
She completely transforms to look like former BBC TV presenter Emily Maitlis, but some fans didn’t think she sounded like the former Newsnight personality.
Instead, they think she sounded more like her previous role in the other Netflix production based on the Royal Family.
Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter one fan wrote: “Watching Scoop and I am so normal about raspy English Gillian Anderson I am so so normal.”
Another commented: “Gillian Anderson did not leave Thatcher behind I mean her voice in scoop is basically the same as her performance in The Crown.”
“Did Gillian Anderson really use her Margaret Thatcher voice when portraying Emily Maitlis?,” enquired a third user.
And a fourth bizarrely added: “Settling down with #Scoop but the problem is that everything Gillian Anderson is in now she’s just Margaret Thatcher.”
But other fans cannot get enough of her performance as they lavished praise on the actress.
One superfan stated: “I’m about halfway through #Scoop. Gillian Anderson and Billie Piper are a bit brilliant, aren’t they?”
A second noted: “Just when I thought I couldn’t love Gillian Anderson anymore than I already do… Here comes #Scoop.”
“Gillian Anderson, Billie Piper… *chef’s kiss* #Scoop,” gushed a third user.
And a fourth added: “Gillian Anderson nails Emily Maitliss.”
