THE X Files will be making a comeback with the creator, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson (AKA Fox Mulder and Dana Scully) all confirming the news.
Gillian, 48, sent fans of the cult show into a spin when she tweeted her 56-year-old co-star asking him if he was ready for the 10-part series.
The TV icon posted: “You ready for more of this @davidduchovny? #TheXFiles”
And David’s response was the best, tweeting: “Oh yes, Been ready since ’93”
Creator Chris Carter has teamed up with Twentieth Century Fox again to bring the show back for its eleventh series.
President of Fox, David Madden said: “Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows.
“Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”
The spooky sci-fi hit ran between 1993 to 2002 before fan demand brought around a six-episode revival in 2016.
The huge success of The X-Files spawned a global franchise consisting of feature films, spin-off TV shows, video games, action figures and comic books.
Last month Gillian Anderson bravely spoke out about her struggle with mental health issues and revealed she was once ‘so low she didn’t want to leave the house.’
Gillian – who won rave reviews for her performance in BBC hit The Fall – told the Guardian: “There were times when it was really bad… There have been times in my life where I haven’t wanted to leave the house.”
