GILLIAN Anderson has celebrated the moment her X Files character finally slept with David Duchovny’s.
The 49-year-old actress marked the momentous moment by sharing a GIF of Mulder and Scully clinking together two bottles of beer.

On Wednesday night’s episode the alien hunting duo ended up involved in a very suggestive scene.
Gillian confirmed they’d done the deed by telling her fans: “ATTHS [And Then They Had Sex]. Twice. [SMUG EMOJI].”
The teaser for the upcoming episode, The Lost Art Of Forehead Sweat, also shows the pair having a near-kiss.
Gillian and 57-year-old David’s sexy scene comes as the actress confirmed she would not be returning for another series.

She said during a press conference: “It’s time for me to hang up Scully’s hat. It just is.
“I’m finished, and that’s the end of that.
“I arrived at the decision before we did the previous six, but I was really curious.”
Gillian said she had made her decision during the six-part 10th season which was on screens in 2016.

She continued: “I felt that the previous six was going to be it.
“It was dipping our toe back in again…and getting to play these wonderful characters again.
“I think as [series creator] Chris Carter has said himself, that short stack of episodes felt like we were learning how to walk again and that this season of 10 feels like the pace is up and we’re running.
“I wouldn’t necessarily have been happy if those six were how we said goodbye.

“There’s lots of things that I want to do in my life and in my career and it’s been an extraordinary opportunity and extraordinary character and I am hugely grateful.”
But The X Files isn’t the only show Gillian has turned her back on, as she also spoke about leaving Starz series American Gods.

She said: ““I’m not doing any more American Gods.
“Bryan [Fuller] and Michael Green aren’t either, as has been announced.”
The two men reportedly quit the series after clashing over the budget for series two with producers Fremantle.
