THE X Files is back for an 11th season, giving fans another dose of the hit sci-fi thriller.
But, who is starring in the latest X Files instalment? Let’s get the lowdown…
David Duchovny
David Duchovny was born in New York on 7 August, 1960 – that makes him 57.
The actor, who divorced wife Téa Leoni in 2014, will be reprising his role as FBI Agent Fox Mulder.
David insists the new series of The X Files will be much better than the last.
He has said: “I am much happier about doing these next 10 episodes than I was about the last six.
“These shows are significantly better and we are all doing better work this time around.
“There are many reasons why we might not have done our best work last season probably due to the long layoff. I also think the season was too short to make an entire show.”
Gillian Anderson
Gillian Anderson was born in Chicago, Illinois, on 9 August, 1968 – that makes her 49.
The actress, who has been in a relationship with screenwriter and dramatist Peter Morgan since 2016, will be reprising her role as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully.
Gillian recently confirmed she won’t be playing Scully for much longer.
She said: ” “It’s time for me to hang up Scully’s hat. It just is.
“I’m finished, and that’s the end of that.
“It is time for me to hang up Scully’s hat. It just is. I arrived at the decision before we did the previous six, but I was really curious.”
Mitch Pileggi
Mitch Pileggi was born in Portland, Oregon, on 5 April, 1952 – that makes him 65.
The actor, who is best known for his role as Colonel Steven Caldwell in Stargate Atlantis, will be reprising the role of FBI’s Assistant Director Walter Skinner.

When is The X-Files Season 11 on TV?
Series 11 of The X-Files– which first began in 1993 – will consist of 10 episodes.
The second episode of season 11 is on Channel 5 tonight (Monday, February 12) at 9pm.
The new series – which will also air on Fox – is giving viewers four extra episodes, as season 10 only consisted of six.
What is Season 11 about?
Fox are typically keeping their cards close to the chest as to what will happen in Season 11, but events will take place two years after season 10.
In the series finale, Mulder’s life was left hanging in the balance as he succumbed to a deadly virus, but in the final moments, a triangle-shaped UFO shone a bright light over him, Scully and Miller.
The episode ended with Scully looking at the lights of the spacecraft.
