GILLIAN Anderson has been cast as former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the next series of The Crown.
The 50-year-old actress will join the star-studded ensemble when filming starts this summer, according to The Times.

It will be first time someone has portrayed her since Meryl Streep won an Oscar, a Bafta and a Golden Globe for The Iron Lady in 2011.
The third series of The Crown will see a shift in the cast as the show follows the events from the Seventies and Eighties.
Most notably Olivia Coleman replaces Claire Foy as the monarch in the next series.
Speaking to The Sun about the role, Olivia said: “I’m really nervous to take over something that’s been so great — it’s scary.

“They’re giving me a great voice coach who will make sure I speak like the Queen.
“So I’ll just learn the lines and try and copy exactly what they do.
“Claire Foy has let me know I can call if I need to.”
Helen Bonham Carter will be taking on the role of Princes Margaret – stepping into Vanessa Kirby’s shoes.
Tobias Menzies is playing Princes Phillip, Josh O’Connor will be Prince Charles and Ben Daniels is playing Lord Snowdon.
