NETFLIX’S Sex Education has been green-lighted for a second series due to high demand from fans.
The raunchy comedy-drama proved so popular with viewers that the students of Moordale High School will return to unload more of their intimate issues on reluctant teen sex therapist Otis.
Filming for the new eight-part series is set to begin in the UK this spring.
Leading characters Gillian Anderson, Asa Butterfield and Emma Mackey will reprise their roles as Jean Milburn, Otis Milburn and Maeve Wiley respectively.
Supporting cast members Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Tanya Reynolds and Patricia Allison will also return.
The first series received critical acclaim for its tackling of stigmas surrounding sexuality, relationships and identity.
The coming-of-age title has also been lauded for its inclusion of intersectional and multidimensional characters who have won viewers’ hearts.
It’s estimated over 40 million households will have tuned into the show within its first four weeks on the video-streaming service.
Creator Laurie Nunn said of the series renewal: “The reception to series one has been so exciting.
“Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible.
