THE Fall is set to return to our screens – and the psychological thriller, starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan, looks more gripping than ever.
There’s no doubt that viewers will be sitting on the edge of their seats once more as cops have closed in on terrifying serial killer Paul Spector.
But when does the popular police drama return – and what do we know about the third series so far?
When is The Fall back?
It’s been almost two years since viewers were hooked on series two BBC’s thriller.
The next instalment of The Fall will return to BBC Two on the 29th of September at 9pm.
How did the last series end?
Following an electrifying chase, DSI Gibson has caught serial killer Phil Spector.
The only problem is that he can’t be brought to justice as he’s out cold in a hospital bed.
Infuriated by the turn of events, the detective explains: “I want him to live, so that he can spend the rest of his life in prison.”
Fans have been left on tenterhooks wondering whether the evil killer will be brought to justice.
What can we expect?
In the last episode, Detective Superintendent Gibson finally got Paul Spector in her clutches, but will he manage to outwit her once more?
Allan Cubitt, the creator and writer of The Fall, revealed: “I’ve been on a very exciting journey over the last five years with Stella Gibson and Paul Spector – the central characters of The Fall – and I’m thrilled to have recently started filming the third instalment of their macabre, obsessive dance of death.”
Ben Stephenson, BBC controller of drama commissioning, added: “The story is far from over. Allan has known the end game from the beginning – the cat and mouse game between Gillian and Jamie has one last act to play out. Who will win?”
Will this be the end?
Rumours suggest that the third series will provide the final conclusion to the enthralling crime story.
But thankfully the door has been left open for it to make a return in the future.
In an interview with the BBC, Gillian Anderson revealed: “I think that Allan has been working on this for about five or six years and it’s possible he might need a bit of a break.
“I like the idea of maybe revisiting it in a few years.”
